Solar Panel Warranty Guide: Product, Performance, and Labor
A long warranty headline is not the same as complete coverage for parts, labor, shipping, roof work, and lost production.

A proposal may contain several warranties from different companies. Build a warranty map that shows what is covered, for how long, who performs the work, what the homeowner pays, and what happens if the installer is unavailable.
Separate every warranty in the quote
Panels can have product and performance coverage; inverters, batteries, racking, workmanship, roof penetrations, and monitoring may have separate terms. The durations are not interchangeable.
- Manufacturer product warranty for defects.
- Manufacturer performance warranty for output degradation.
- Inverter and battery product coverage.
- Installer workmanship and roof-penetration coverage.
- Labor, diagnostic, shipping, and truck-roll responsibility.
Read the exclusions and claim path
Ask for the actual warranty documents before signing. Check registration requirements, transfer rules, maintenance duties, environmental exclusions, removal and reinstallation costs, labor reimbursement, and the entity that receives a claim.
A manufacturer may supply a replacement part without covering rooftop labor. An installer warranty may be difficult to use if the installer no longer operates, so identify each fallback path.
Put warranty promises in the contract
Record exact equipment models and attach or link the warranty versions that apply. If the salesperson promises broader labor or roof coverage, make the signed contract identify the responsible company, term, exclusions, and remedy.
